神は、知者をはずかしめるために、この世の愚かな者を選んだ。 [1コリ1:27]

イスラエルの人々が主に呼ばわったとき、主は彼らのために、ひとりの救助者を起された。左ききのエホデである。イスラエルの人々は彼によってモアブの王エグロンに、みつぎ物を送った。エホデの後、アナテの子シャムガルが起り、牛のむちをもってペリシテびと六百人を殺した。この人もまたイスラエルを救った。 [士3:15,31]

主はふり向いて彼（ギデオン）に言われた、「あなたはこのあなたの力をもって行きなさい。わたしがあなたをつかわすのではありませんか」。ギデオンは主に言った、「ああ主よ、わたしはどうしてイスラエルを救うことができましょうか。わたしの氏族はマナセのうちで最も弱いものです。わたしはまたわたしの父の家族のうちで最も小さいものです」。 [士6:14,15]

主はギデオンに言われた、「あなたと共におる民はあまりに多い。おそらくイスラエルはわたしに向かってみずから誇り、『わたしは自身の手で自分を救ったのだ』と言うであろう」。 [士7:2]

万軍の主は仰せられる、これは権勢によらず、能力によらず、わたしの霊によるのである。 ■ 主にあって、その偉大な力によって、強くなりなさい。 [ゼカ4:6 | エペ6:10]

August 12, Evening

God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. [I Cor.1:27]

When the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised them up a deliverer, Ehud, ... a man lefthanded. After him was Shamgar, ... which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel. [Judg.3:15,31]

The Lord looked upon [Gideon], and said, Go in this thy might: ... have not I sent thee? And he said unto him, O my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. [Judg.6:14,15]

The Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me, ... lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. [Judg.7:2]
