わたしはまた日の下を見たが、必ずしも速い者が競走に勝つのではなく、強い者が戦いに勝つのでもない。また賢い者がパンを得るのでもなく、さとき者が富を得るのでもない。また知識ある者が恵みを得るのでもない。 ■ 人は心に自分の道を考え計る、しかし、その歩みを導く者は主である。 [伝9:11 | 箴16:9]

天に座しておられる者よ、わたしはあなたにむかって目をあげます。見よ、しもべがその主人の手に目をそそぎ、はしためがその主婦の手に目をそそぐように、われらはわれらの神、主に目をそそいで、われらをあわれまれるのを待ちます。 ■ わが歩むべき道を教えてください。わが魂はあなたを仰ぎ望みます。 [詩123:1,2 | 詩143:8]

われわれの神よ、あなたは彼らをさばかれないのですか。われわれはこのように攻めて来る大軍に当る力がなく、またいかになすべきかを知りません。ただ、あなたを仰ぎ望むのみです」。 [2歴20:12]

あなたがたのうち、知恵に不足している者があれば、その人は、とがめもせずに惜しみなくすべての人に与える神に、願い求めるがよい。そうすれば、与えられるであろう。 [ヤコ1:5]

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill. ■ A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps. [Eccl.9:11 | Prov.16:9]

Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O Thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God. ■ Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. [II Chr.20:12]
