主は高き所にいらせられて、その勢いは多くの水のとどろきにまさって盛んです。 ■ 万軍の神、主よ、主よ、だれかあなたのように大能のある者があるでしょうか。あなたのまことは、あなたをめぐっています。あなたは海の荒れるのを治め、その波の起るとき、これを静められます。 [詩93:4 | 詩89:8,9]

主は言われる、あなたがたはわたしを恐れないのか、わたしの前におののかないのか。わたしは砂を置いて海の境とし、これを永遠の限界として、越えることができないようにした。波はさかまいても、勝つことはできない、鳴りわたっても、これを越えることはできない。 [エレ5:22]

あなたが水の中を過ぎるとき、わたしはあなたと共におる。川の中を過ぎるとき、水はあなたの上にあふれることがない。 [イザ43:2]

ペテロは舟からおり、水の上を歩いてイエスのところへ行った。しかし、風を見て恐ろしくなり、そしておぼれかけたので、彼は叫んで、「主よ、お助けください」と言った。イエスはすぐに手を伸ばし、彼をつかまえて言われた、「信仰の薄い者よ、なぜ疑ったのか」。 [マタ14:29-31]

The floods lift up their waves. [Psa.93:3]

The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. ■ O Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee? thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them. [Psa.93:4 | Psa.89:8,9]

Fear ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it? [Jer.5:22]

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee. [Isa.43:2]

Peter ... walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? [Matt.14:29-31]
