死よ、おまえの勝利は、どこにあるのか。死よ、おまえのとげは、どこにあるのか。 [1コリ15:55]

死のとげは罪である。 ■ [キリストは]ご自身をいけにえとしてささげて罪を取り除くために、世の終りに、一度だけ現れたのである。そして、一度だけ死ぬことと、死んだ後さばきを受けることとが、人間に定まっているように、キリストもまた、多くの人の罪を負うために、一度だけご自身をささげられた後、彼を待ち望んでいる人々に、罪を負うためではなしに二度目に現れて、救を与えられるのである。 [1コリ15:56 | ヘブ9:26-28]

子たちは血と肉とに共にあずかっているので、イエスもまた同様に、それらをそなえておられる。それは、死の力を持つ者、すなわち悪魔を、ご自分の死によって滅ぼし、死の恐怖のために一生涯、奴隷となっていた者たちを、解き放つためである。 [ヘブ2:14,15]

わたしは、すでに自身を犠牲としてささげている。わたしが世を去るべき時はきた。わたしは戦いをりっぱに戦いぬき、走るべき行程を走りつくし、信仰を守りとおした。今や、義の冠がわたしを待っているばかりである。 [2テモ4:6-8]

January 4, Evening

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? [I Cor.15:55]

The sting of death is sin. ■ But now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. [I Cor.15:56 | Heb.9:26-28]

As the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. [Heb.2:14,15]

I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. [II Tim.4:6-8]
