どうか、はとのように翼をもちたいものだ。そうすればわたしは飛び去って安きを得るであろう。 [詩55:6]

やがて太陽が出たとき、神が暑い東風を備え、また太陽がヨナの頭を照したので、ヨナは弱りはて、死ぬことを願って言った、「生きるよりも死ぬ方がわたしにはましだ」。 [ヨナ4:8]

すなわちヨブは言った、なにゆえ、悩む者に光を賜い、心の苦しむ者に命を賜わったのか。このような人は死を望んでも来ない、これを求めることは隠れた宝を掘るよりも、はなはだしい。 ■ 正しい者には災が多い。しかし、主はすべてその中から彼を助け出される。 [ヨブ3:2,20,21 | 詩34:19]

今わたしは心が騒いでいる。わたしはなんと言おうか。父よ、この時からわたしをお救い下さい。 ■ イエスは、神のみまえにあわれみ深い忠実な大祭司となって、民の罪をあがなうために、あらゆる点において兄弟たちと同じようにならねばならなかった。主ご自身、試錬を受けて苦しまれたからこそ、試錬の中にある者たちを助けることができるのである。 [ヨハ12:27 | ヘブ2:17,18]

May 29, Evening

Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. [Psa.55:6]

It came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live. [Jon.4:8]

Job spake, and said, Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul; which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures? ■ Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. ■ In all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
